HIMSS12 is right around the corner, and I’m eager to see what is in store. It’s always a struggle to choose between so many sessions and the various topics. It is also a challenge to make time to catch up with all your friends that are attending!

Since HITECH was first announced, the industry has been making leaps and bounds. Every day I look through my news updates and log into Twitter- success stories of mobile healthtelehealth, HIEs and more have taken over my homepage.

We have come a long way, but there is much more we can accomplish. With meaningful use Stage 2 requirements coming out any day now, and innovations born every day I am confident that no matter what session you attend at HIMSS you will learn something new. In addition to the successes we have seen in health IT, with patient centered medical homes on the rise and the Pioneer ACOs being announced on December 19th it is clear that the road is leading to clinical integration.

There is a nationwide opportunity for collaboration and integration, the question is,  “What tools do we use to get there?”
