Mobile data protection concerns are high, but practices are immature. Mobile data protection is a top-of-mind
concern, but few companies go beyond utilizing simple device-level measures, such as passwords, device
autolocking, and remote wipe to protect sensitive corporate data, and few companies have taken steps to protect
the integrity of mobile devices from malicious applications, spyware, malicious short message service (SMS), etc.
Enterprise mobility is entering a strategic planning era. When employee mobility first surfaced in the
enterprise, IT typically made ad hoc decisions with respect to mobility support. However, our study shows that
firms today realize that they need concerted, strategic planning for enterprise mobility, and many have embarked
on such an exercise. Many survey respondents listed “developing a comprehensive and strategic mobility plan” as
a top enterprise IT initiative.
