AT&T leads the pack in managed security services

  • Forrester Research ranked AT&T as a Managed Security Services Leader for its strong service portfolio.

  • The company also demonstrates effective portals, client and revenue growth, and focus on customer service.

Independent technology and market research company Forrester Research has ranked AT&T as a Managed Security Services Leader in its Forrester Wave™ evaluations. According to Forrester, vendors in the leader category were those who demonstrated a variety of strengths in their service portfolio. The leaders also demonstrated effective portals, good client and revenue growth, and a focus on customer service.

Key comments from Forrester’s report include:

AT&T provides threat detection through the power of the company’s network.”

As the owner and operator of the largest IP network, AT&T has extensive visibility over the data that flows across the network. This traffic equates to over 71 petabytes of customer traffic traversing the AT&T IP network every day. To help secure the network and customer data, the company performs ongoing analysis to detect anomalies/changes and patterns of malicious activity within the 3.7 billion records passing through its analysis engines every hour.

To make sense of this data, AT&T tracks over 1.2 million threat indicators using its own patented analytic capabilities. In performing ongoing activities to protect the network, and in providing managed services to customers, AT&T looks for potential malicious activity utilizing this data and the know-how that comes from years of experience in monitoring and analyzing cyber threats.

“Overall, customers were pleased with AT&T’s services and would recommend the firm to others.”

With a diverse portfolio of managed security solutions and security consulting offers, supported by a team of approximately 2,000 experienced security professionals, AT&T has “one of the largest customer bases of the participating firms, with an estimated base of over 3,000 customers in North America.” Forrester also noted AT&T’s expanding presence in Asia, where there are currently three Security Operations Centers (SOCs) operating within the region.
