AT&T helps U.S. Government to modernize, mobilize, transform

  • As a trusted provider to the U.S. government, AT&T helps various agencies use technology to strategically achieve their missions.

  • Key projects incorporate mobility, cloud services, collaboration solutions, analytics.

The importance of technology in supporting the Federal Government to modernize and achieve its objectives cannot be overstated. Like the private sector, Federal Government agencies are rapidly becoming more mobile, social, and digital: using mobility, cloud services, collaboration solutions, and analytics to improve delivery of services and to achieve their missions more efficiently and effectively.

AT&T is a long-standing and trusted provider to Federal Government agencies, dating back as far as the invention of the telephone. Today, we provide solutions that equip our military to communicate and assess enemy activity on the battlefield in real-time, while also enabling them to easily connect and communicate with loved ones. Health and safety workers use our mobility services to monitor and combat global health emergencies. Emergency responders use our technology capabilities to coordinate disaster relief efforts in real-time.

Several key projects awarded to us by government agencies in the second half of 2014 provide a glimpse into some of the ways we help agencies use technology to achieve their missions:

  • We are equipping the Department of Veterans Affairs with our mobility services to help them improve delivery of healthcare services to veterans. Our services allow physicians, clinicians, caregivers, and technologists across the country to communicate and exchange vital information using mobile and connected devices, expanding care beyond the traditional setting and positively improving the lives of patients and families.
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and CDC Foundation purchased AT&T mobility services and devices to rapidly establish early intervention efforts at airports in the United States. Using these AT&T services and devices, which are included in CDC’s CARE (Check And Report Ebola) kits, experts are able to actively monitor and communicate critical information between public health officials and travelers from the affected region.
  • The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is radically transforming the way it delivers mail and packages. Our application solutions for USPS enables package tracking, customer text notifications, mobile point-of-sale services, post office transactions, as well as better service at USPS call centers and on By modernizing their technology, the USPS is well-positioned to deliver in the increasingly competitive mail and package delivery market.
  • In support of the U.S. Department of State’s global diplomatic mission, AT&T is designing and delivering upgraded telecommunications systems among the nearly 275 U.S. embassies and consulates around the world. Through this advanced technology, State Department employees will have more capable communications, and the agency will be able to integrate new collaborative tools.
  • The General Services Administration turned to us to upgrade their mobility technology across the entire agency. AT&T mobility services will enable GSA employees to capitalize on applications that improve the efficiency of their operations and service delivery, and foster greater innovation and collaborative solutions from locations nationwide.
  • Another major federal agency is working with AT&T to upgrade its capabilities to meet over 100 million annual requests for benefits and services from some of our nation’s most vulnerable citizens. The combined use of automated self-service options complemented by human call center agents is vital for the agency to meet ever-increasing demand for services.

In 2015, we will continue helping government agencies use technology strategically to help take them to even greater levels of effectiveness. With our mobility services, these agencies can transform operations and improve worker collaboration. They can tap the power of our highly secure mobile cloud to increase agility and efficiency. They can also use our machine-to-machine capabilities to help manage fleet services and supply chains.

In this new mobile, virtual, and global world, our technology services and capabilities have never been more relevant or vital to help our Federal Government have a profoundly positive impact. And we are eager to deliver.
