Transforming the way students learn and stay connected

  • Research and education communities value AT&T as a network technology partner.

  • CENIC recently recognized AT&T's Government/Education West team for its innovative work in education.

AT&T has a special team fully dedicated to government, education, and healthcare customers. This group focuses largely on the unique needs of our public sector customers, particularly education entities that aim to help students succeed in school and to advance economic development.

Research and education communities are turning to AT&T because they see us as a pioneer in using state-of-the-art network technologies that can benefit students, teachers, and administrators. We work closely with our higher education customers to help improve how students learn and stay connected. Together, we’re helping schools and their students:

  • Improve academic performance
  • Improve safety
  • Increase communication among peers and instructors

A great example is our work with the Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC). This nonprofit operates the California Research and Education Network (CalREN), which has more than 20 million users, including most California students, educators, and researchers. We help CENIC bring its network to schools and other institutions so communities in California get the most out of high-speed Internet access and can drive economic growth.

Customers like CENIC tell us every day they’re looking for business collaborators rather than vendors. And that’s what we’re here to do. We share our customers’ passion for finding new ways for students to learn using technology. Education is changing, and we’re helping organizations across the country stay ahead of the curve.

CENIC recently recognized AT&T’s Government/Education West team, led by Executive Director Chris Congo, with the 2015 Innovations in Networking Award as Corporate Partner. This was the first year the award was given in this category. CENIC recognized AT&T for our understanding of the importance of high-speed Internet for the research and education communities in California. AT&T and CENIC have been able to move forward on many initiatives in support of these communities, including network technology upgrades for the California Community College system.

The CENIC innovation award is a great recognition of the work we do with our education customers to help them achieve their goals. Here at AT&T, as demonstrated by the Aspire initiative, we are investing in innovative education organizations, tools and solutions; and employing technology and capabilities that are unique to AT&T. We aspire to help students succeed, strengthen schools and communities, and widen the talent pipeline.  We’re proud of our commitment to education, we’re proud of Chris Congo, his team, and all our other teams that provide 21st century technologies to advance education and develop tomorrow’s leaders.
