Power Your Future Mobility Application Contest

Most, if not all of us, have watched Dancing with the Stars, American Idol or some other sort of “voting” show.  We can’t seem to get enough of them and we love to be able to participate and vote for our chosen dancing couple or singer and hope they win. Let’s partner up many of our loves together; love of team, love of smartphone applications and love of helping the environment and put our votes to good use.

In partnership with the AT&T Developer Program, the “Power Your Future” mobile application contest opened on August 1, 2011 to software developers with an application created in iOS, Android or for any of AT&T’s HTML5 compatible phones.  Their task was to design and find innovative applications that deliver an environmental or energy efficient benefit. Their genius and creativity is now complete and now it’s your turn to vote on the four finalists and potentially win $100 just by voting.

As you download and vote, keep in mind that the contest was designed to identify apps to help people live, work and/or play in more sustainable ways. You, our AT&T customers, and the general public, can vote on the best apps in the competition starting Oct. 11th and votes continue thru Dec. 9th, 2011.  Your vote puts you in the drawing for $100 and we aren’t just giving away one $100 gift card; we are giving 30! Your vote can help the winner of these innovative application developers win $20,000 and also help the first runner-up receive $5,000.

Not only will you be able to provide your digital vote, but you will also have the opportunity to provide specific feedback about why you voted for the application. Now be honest, can you do that in your votes for the reality shows? Of course not, but we want not only your vote, but your opinions. Your vote counts, not only will the winner garner the 1st place prize of $20,000, but they will also be honored at the 2012 AT&T Developer Summit in Las Vegas in January, 2012 (receiving airfare and lodging).

AT&T’s Developer Program has ranked highest of all carrier developer programs for the past five years by Evans Data. Membership is free to all!

So get your voting fingers ready and cast your vote. Let’s help the environment with applications that can help us live, work and/or play in more sustainable ways, while we honor the talent of the applications designers for their innovative ideas.
